Nearly 21M Affected by Large Health Data Breaches Since 2009

Since September 2009, HHS' Office for Civil Rights has received reports of 477 health data breaches affecting 500 or more individuals. According to OCR data, a total of 20,970,222 individuals have had their medical records compromised in such large-scale breaches.
